Sweets - Requested Story

L liked sweets. Some could say he liked sweets more than solving the Kira case. Some could EVEN say he valued his deluxe waffle cinnamon cake over Matsuda's life.
That was true up until the day he met Lil. She showed up in the office as a new intern; one of Soichiro's apprentices. She stood with one hand in her pocket, the other holding a large lolly-pop. L was already intrigued. She noticed his gaze and smiled at him; her eyes creasing up at the edges, then she did something that surprised L. She waved. Now what surprised him the most was that he found himself waving back.
Light nudged him, seeing his gaze averted from the monitors for the first time in two hours.
"What's up with you, Ryuzaki?"

As Lil disappeared through a door behind Soichiro and the other two interns, L managed to snap himself from his daze. He dropped his hand, holding it to his chest, and reverted back to watching the screens. He didn't speak.
Time passed and L soon pulled out another cake to eat, only as he lifted a spoonful of the dessert to his lips he heard a loud cry of "That was mine you jerk! Give it back!" - a moment later he saw Lil storming her way into the room, her eyes furious. Soichiro walked into the room a moment later, dusting his hands off.
"You weren't concentrating with that thing in your hands. You shouldn't be eating in here anyway."
Yes, Soichiro had taken away her lolly-pop. Taken it away and thrown it in the trash. Lil pointed an accusing finger towards L,
"Well HE'S eating, so why can't I?!"
"That's different. He's-"
"DISCRIMINATION!" She yelled angrily, stamping her foot. Soichiro looked at her a moment, saw her murderous expression then sighed and turned, deciding to leave her to cool off for a while.
When he was gone Lil sagged. She wanted her lolly-pop back. She turned on her heel and kicked the dust at her feet; oblivious to the eyes on her. She stuffed her hands into her pockets and made her way over to the screens. Light noticed,
"Hey, sorry but we're a little busy here,"
L raised a hand, looking back at the monitors,
"Let her be," He said quietly. Light looked down at him in his swivel-chair, wondering what was going on in his head then rolled his eyes and looked back at the screens. Lil rolled up along side L, staring at the screens with large sad eyes. She sighed heavily. L's eyes flickered to look at her.
Lil glanced sideways in surprise when she felt a tug on her sleeve. The man next to her was holding something out. He mumbled a brief, "Here," then pushed it into her hands. She looked down at it and her heart skipped a beat. Her eyes lit up.
"Seriously? For me?"
She looked back at the man but he was staring at the screens again, oblivious to her. She looked back at the item in her hands. It was a lolly-pop - one heck of a lolly-pop. It was about the same size as her head, made up of blue and pink swirls. This was way better than her last lolly-pop.
She hurriedly undid the wrapping then held it up to her mouth. Just before she attempted to bite into it she stopped and looked to her side,
"Thank you."
She bit it.
As she started to try and devour the sweet, L looked across at her. He smiled to himself then turned to pick up his cake,
"You're welcome." He glanced at her, "Just make sure Soichiro doesn't catch you with it."
Lil giggled.
