“C’mon Konohamaru! If you don’t eat ‘em you’ll never be strong enough to become Hokage!” Naruto whined in a failed attempt to get his mission complete. Yes, Naruto Uzumaki’s job was to get Konohamaru, grandson of the third Hokage, to eat his vegetables.
Konohamaru growled and pushed his plate away.
“But boss, I don’t need to eat vegetables! I’m strong enough already!” He said, flexing his invisible biceps. Naruto’s expression drooped slightly. He jumped, ever the enthusiast, and flapped his hands about.
“But you can always be stronger!” He pushed the plate back to Konohamaru. “Go on, just eat a carrot!”
Konohamaru turned his nose up at it, crossing his arms.
“No way, boss.” He looked at Naruto and grinned devilishly. “I have Lachanophobia!”
Naruto raised an eyebrow.
“Laki-no-…huh?”
Konohamaru pushed back on his chair, moving away from the table. He knew he was going to win this argument.
“It’s the fear of vegetables. If I so much as see a vegetable I break out in cold sweats and can’t move.”
Naruto barked, throwing his finger out at Konohamaru accusingly.
“YOU DO NOT! Don’t be such a little kid and eat your greens!”
“But I am scared of vegetables!”
“Are not!” Naruto pushed the whole table towards Konohamaru. “Eat them!”
“Why should I!?”
Naruto drooped. He was supposed to be going to the cinema with Sakura and Sai later… it didn’t look like it was going to be happen now. He gave Konohamaru a weak smile.
“Come on… if you eat them we can both get out of here. Just hold your nose and shove them in.”
Konohamaru looked at Naruto’s expression and wavered on the idea for a moment. He looked down at his plate and saw the three single baby carrots. Well… maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
He picked up his fork and stabbed it into the closest carrots, lifting it into the air. Naruto’s eyes lit up. He looked down at his watch. Ooh, that was close. He only had fifteen minutes until the cinema. He watched Konohamaru lifting the vegetable to his mouth with eagerness.
The smaller boy held the vegetable an inch from his mouth. He was watching it as closely as if it could jump up and attack him at any second. He raised it a little higher, going past his mouth and up to his nose. He took a large sniff of the carrot. His eyes suddenly bulged and his face turned green.
“I’m not eating that!” He yelled, tossing the fork across the room.
Naruto’s eye twitched. So much for that idea…
He looked down suddenly, feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out and flipped the lid. The screen read ‘1 Message: Sakura’. He stared at it a moment then opened the message: ‘Sai not coming any more. Just us. C u there x’
Naruto’s eyes glistened. Oh the possibilities…- well that would all be in vein if a certain someone didn’t eat his greens…
A look of panic flashed across Naruto’s face.
“Konohamaru, eat your vegetables!”
“No way! You eat ‘em!”
Naruto’s eye twitched. He knew he’d have to resort to it…- he didn’t want to; it would only cause problems later but… how often would he get this chance with Sakura? That’s it. He’d have to do it.
Konohamaru looked at Naruto edging towards him with a glint in his eyes.
“W-what are you doing, boss?”
“Oh, nothing…” He said with a creepy grin on his face. Konohamaru backed up in his seat. Naruto stopped. There was a deadly quiet pause between them, and then…
“EAT YOUR VEGETABLES, KONOHAMARU!”
In a split second Naruto had dived across the entire table, grabbing the plate of food along the way and was attempting to force-feed the carrots to Konohamaru.
“GET OFF ME! I’M NOT EATING THEM!”
