FFVII ~ 7 minutes in Heaven: Reno

“Four?” You call out. You look around and notice someone getting to their feet. It's Rude.
You give him a smile then head off into the closet, followed by the bald headed man. you totally miss the pair of eyes staring at you from the living room.

-(Inside the closet)-
You and Rude sit in the darkness, not really knowing what to do.
You're just sitting there with your head against the wall, when you hear a noise coming from Rude's position in the closet. You slide up the wall and flick on the light switch to see Rude sitting on the floor, a pile of sunglasses next to him, and a pair in his hand which he is currently polishing. You laugh.
Rude looks up at you and asks,
“What?”
“Nothing, you just have too many sunglasses.”
He looks down at the pile next to him and smiles.
“I never really noticed.”
You laugh.
-(Five and a half minutes later)-
The door slams open and a camera flashes. You look up from your card game with Rude to see me and Cloud staring at the picture we'd just taken with disappointed looks on ours faces.
“Awww! You didn't do anything! No fair!” I yell at you. You laugh and then get helped up off the floor by Rude.
You walk out together, then you sit back on the sofa next to Yuffie, whereas Rude goes back to his red-headed partner, Reno.
You turn from Rude to see Yuffie grinning at you.
“So did anything happen? You can tell me the truth.” She says with a giggle.
You laugh, shoving her playfully,
“No, nothing happened.” You say; and it was true. Nothing had happened. After the sunglasses incident you had just started talking, then Rude pulled out a pack of playing cards...and that's what you did for the next five and a half minutes.
As Yuffie continues to talk to you, you seem to drift off; your eyes wandering over to Rude and Reno. You realise that the pair of them.... are arguing?
Although they are sat next to each other quite happily, you can tell that they are trying their best not to yell at each other - or rather, trying their best not to attack each other.
Reno is sat with his arms crossed, his head turned to Rude, gritting his teeth.
You strain to hear what the two are saying to each other -being the curious person you are- but then suddenly find no need to because Reno shoots to his feet and yells,
“DON'T TELL ME YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HER BECAUSE I KNOW YOU DID! I HEARD NOISES!”
Rude also rises to his feet,
“Reno! Calm down! We just played cards!”
Your stomach twists when you realise that they are talking about you. Reno yells back,
“YOU DID NOT JUST PLAY CARDS! THERE'S NO WAY YOU COULD HAVE JUST GONE IN THERE WITH _____ AND NOT DONE ANYTHING WITH HER, I MEAN, C'MON! JUST LOOK AT HER-” He points his finger at you, then stops yelling when he realises you- along with the rest of the room- are looking at him, shocked.
Reno sighs in frustration; he throws his hands behind his head and storms off, heading outside.
Everyone stares after him for a while, the room being dead-silent, then slowly, we all revert back to what we were doing - playing seven in heaven. You look back at Yuffie and she's staring at you, shocked as well.
Her expression suddenly changes. She smiles.
“He likes you!”
You nearly choke.
“A-are you crazy?! We've only met like... twice!”
“Hey, that's enough time!” She smirks, “You should check if he's okay.”
“No, no, that's okay! Really!” You say with a smile. Yuffie ignores you and instead, grabs you by the shoulders and drags you off your seat, heading towards the front door. You yell in protest, but she just grins, saying,
“Just go see if he's alright! You never know, he might want to thank you.”
“But I don't want-”
Yuffie opens the front door and throws you out into the dark. You land on your head and roll over, falling into the garden fence. You turn back to look at the door and yell,
“Hey!”
Yuffie looks at you and smiles, waving, then closes the door. You frown at where she'd just been standing, then get up. You look around, deciding it's better to go and look for Reno rather than do nothing.
It doesn't take you long to find him, finding him sitting just round the corner from the house on a bench. You walk up to him and sit down by his side.
“Heya, Reno.”
He looks across to you and says, his chin in his hands,
“Hey, ____.”
”Hey, are you okay? You got kind of angry...”
“Pfft, oh yeah. I'm just great! Never better.” He says in a sarcastic tone. He looks down at the floor again with almost a pout on his lips.
You look at him and smile.
“Reno, I really didn't do anything with Rude. I promise.”
'N'aww he's so cute when he acts like this!'
Well, you've already guessed that he likes you.... from the whole... incident in the house.. so you decide to lean over and hug him, hoping it will make him feel better.
You lean over and wrap your arms across his shoulders. He looks over at you curiously.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Oh, fine then. If you don't want a hug...” You pull away but get stopped by Reno, who wraps his hands around you, holding you against him.
“Hey, I didn't say stop.” He says in a soft tone. You giggle and wrap your arms back around him. You nuzzle your head into his neck, keeping yourself warm in the cool night air. It is winter after all.(A/N: well it was when I started writing it)
You close your eyes and absent-mindedly take in Reno's scent. Oddly enough he smells just like the flowers that Aerith used to sell. It's such a sweet smell that you find yourself drifting off against him – until you feel a finger under your chin. Reno lifts your head slightly, then he cups your chin in his hand and brings you round so you're facing him. You're so close you can feel his breath fanning across your face. Your stomach fills with butterflies and your heart starts to race. You know what's coming, but even when he leans forward and places his lips against yours, your breath still catches in your throat.
The lips against yours are delicate, almost as if trying not to scare you away – so unlike the Reno you know.
The kiss lasts only a moment, but when you break away your lips still tingle from the sensation.
You look at Reno, and he looks back at you, and then you both lean in again.
Your lips touch again and you just press a little closer to him. For the second time, the kiss is only gentle, but then you feel Reno's tongue touch your lips ever so softly. Your stomach erupts with butterflies again. You open your mouth a little and run your own tongue across his lip, gaining a smirk from him. He pushes your tongue back into your mouth with his own, then entwines it with yours, making the butterflies build again. As his tongue plays with yours, his hands travel, one to the back of your neck and the other to your waist, holding you against him.
You love every second of it.
After a longer while, the two of you part and you look away, a blush across you cheeks. Reno smiles and takes your chin again, turning you to look at him. He kisses your nose and says,
“____, I don't know a way to say this without sounds cheesy so... I'm in love with you.”
Your eyes lock with his. That was unexpected.
You smile at him again, trying to find the right thing to say. You blush again, then pull up the courage and take Reno's face in your hands, crashing your lips to his.
After you break away again, you say,
“Reno, I think I love you too.”
Reno cocks his head to one side with a playful pout on his face.
“You only think you love me? Well then-” He picks you up in his arms like a bride, then heads back towards the house, saying,
“I'll just have to try and make you fall in love with me.”
He kisses the bridge of your nose again, then opens the front door to the house and walks inside, you still resting in his arms.
When you're inside there's a chorus of 'AWWW!' and a loud “I told you so!” from Yuffie.
You smile and stick your tongue out at her. Reno carries you over to where Rude is sat polishing the remainder of his sun-glasses. He walks up to his friend – you still in his arms – and says,
“Uhh... Sorry, partner. I should have believed you.”
Rude looks up and smiles.
“Yeah, you should have.” His smile turns to a grin. He gives a small wink to you. “So to make up for it, you have to buy me a drink... and maybe one for ____.”
Reno smirks. “Fine.”
He sits down next to Rude with you in his arms. You look up at him and he kisses your forehead. You look over to Rude and mouth the words 'thank you'.
He looks back and nods his head. No body knew about the plan you two had made whilst playing cards in the closet, and it would always be your little secret.
You leaned up and pressed your lips to Reno's again. He kissed back.
